’ 96: Pro Racer Ruthie Matthes joins the Moots family and proceeds to win the National CC title on a YBB.
’ 96: The PsychloX cross frame is introduced.
’ 97: The Vamoots road frame is offered with stock geometry. Sticking with our “simplicity rules” design philosophy, it boasts clean lines and traditional European geometry. Unlike the steel of the day, the titanium Vamoots makes for a supremely silky ride. The Mootaineer (using a 2nd gen MARC suspension) is also unveiled, with 4 inches of rear travel devoid of dropout pivots and weighing only 5 lbs.
’ 99: Our first 29er, the Mooto-X YBB becomes part of the fleet, nearly a decade ahead of the 29er craze.
’ 01: We celebrate our 20th Anniversary with a Limited Edition Vamoots. The 50 frames were an instant hit and sold out before the season began.
’ 01: We move into our current, state-of-the-art factory in Steamboat. 01: SL Road and MTB models introduced.
’ 03: The Vamoots CR (compact road) is added to the line-up, featuring a sloping top tube for greater lateral rigidity and even lighter weight. The Compact SL weighs less than 2.5 lbs. 05: The 5-inch travel, Cinco and the go-anywhere, do-anything Mootour join the family.
’ 06: The newly designed 3-inch travel Zirkel joins our mountain lineup. Also that summer our 25th Anniversary Silver Celebration party brings together Moots owners, retailers, past and present employees, and cycling legends. Everyone convenes on Steamboat Springs for a weekend of titanium exuberance. To help us celebrate, Silverado Vineyards in Napa produces Breakaway Red, a 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon blend bottled exclusively for us.
’ 07: The Mooto-XZ, a 4-inch dual-suspension 29er is introduced. We receive Gold Planet certification from the Steamboat Sustainable Business Program by incorporating sustainability practices into our overall policies and daily operations. New machinery and production processes cut lead times and refine service levels.
’08: We introduce the custom Gristle 96er mountain bike and our innovative and simple to adjust Cinch Post.
’ 09: The Mooto X YBB 10th Anniversary Edition 29er is released.
’ 10: The Moots Road Line is completely revamped with the unveiling of the new Vamoots RSL.
